I’m Rodger Douglas and I treat fibromyalgia with homeopathy. I use a body mind approach that revolves around simple and healthy living.
remedies for fibromyalgia
Now you might want to know why I use remedies when I'm a homeopathic practitioner. Shouldn't I stick to homeopathic medicines only and become master of homeopathy rather than Jack of all remedies. The answer is that there are two ways to effectively fight disease, and they are completely interconnected. Imagine for a moment disease as an invading army. To defeat that invading force you need your own army (homeopathic medicines) to drive them out. Once you've defeated the invading army you don't need solidiers anymore. It's time to rebuild so you employ architects, builders, and engineers (remedies).
While the jurisdiction of homeopathic medicines is fighting a disease, that of remedies is rebuilding and strengthening the body and mind. If a patient has liver cirrhosis from drinking too much alcohol you would first use a homeopathic medice to treat the disease, and then gradually you'd phase out the homeopathic medicines and switch to natural remedies to rebuild the damaged liver.
When I first started practicing homeopathy I used a variety of remedies such as essential oils, herbs, and amino acids. I guess that since I had studied these modalities at college I felt obliged to use them in my practice, but as time went by I found myself discarding them one at a time. I was eventually left with the three modalities that really resonated with me, and that I felt were the most effective.
flower remedies for emotions
In the 1930s Dr. Edward Bach discovered the thirty-eight flower essences. Each essence was aimed at a particular mental state or emotion. He found that when he treated the personalities and feelings of his patients their physical distress would be alleviated naturally. There are several advantages of flower remedies over pharacueticals. Firstly, they are safe and gentle with no adverse reactions. Secondly, there are thousands of remedies to choose from so you can really zero in on your specific issue. So for example, if you suffer from anxiety you might choose Mimulus if you know exactly what you are anxious about, or Aspen if what you are afraid of is vague, or Agrimony if you carry your fears in secret, or Red chestnut if you worry excessively about your loved ones. Or you could select one or two of the other fifty remedies for anxiety that exactly matches your circumstances.
To understand how flower essences work requires a recognition that the human being is more than a physical body, but also a spiritual being. Each flower essence has its own energetic imprint or signature, which interacts with the subtle energy of the human being. They work in a similar way to music or art, which carry meaning through the vehicle of sound or light. Flower essences carry meaning though the medium of water.
Cell salts are homeopathic medicines made from minerals essential to your health. Dr. Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler discovered cell salts at the end of the nineteenth century. He was studying the chemical makeup of human cells and discovered that there were twelve mineral salts in all human cells and tissues. Later with more high tech intruments another 15 were discovered bringing the total to 27.
Cell salts were popularized by the work of Kurt Hickethier. During WW1 he fell sick with malaria and the untreatable ankylosing spondylitis. He treated himseld with cell salts and his illness went into remission. He lived symptom-free for another 40 years. Hickethier built several clinics where he applied cell salt facial diagnostics with great success. Essentially, mineral deficiences show up in the face, skin, and hair and can thus be easily diagnosed.
For me there are two reasons I use cell salts to treat fibromyalgia. One. Cell salts are second to none in physically rebuilding and strengthening the body. I found that they are far superior to any herbs or supplents I have ever used. However, you'll need to give yourself 3 to 6 months to see results. Two. You can accurately diagnose any mineral deficiencies you may have by observing your body and face. This is a form of self analysis which will lead to greater self knowledge.
Silica is a commonly used cell salt. Physical symptoms include sensitivity to cold, weak connective tissue, skin problems, brittle hair and nails, sweaty hands and feet, stinky feet, and exhaustion. The mental picture is one of shyness, sensitivity, irritation, and occasional aggresiveness. Facail signs include deep wrinkles such as crow’s feet; laugh lines or vertical wrinkles in front of ears, hair loss, and deep set eyes.
detox with gemmotherapy
I don’t think that a build up of toxins in the body is the one originating cause of fibromyalgia, but people who have been chronically ill for a long time tend have an overload of toxins in their bodies. In my experience eliminating these toxins is the first step to recovery. There are two steps to doing this. Start by lowering your exposure to toxins, as far as possible, by removing them from your home. Read more on how to do this in decluttering. Then select a few gemmotherapy remedies to safely and effectively drain those toxins from your body.
Gemmotherapy remedies are made from young shoots and buds. They contain the peak life essence of the plants so they are richer in vitamins, minerals, nucleic acids, growth hormones and other plant tissues that are lost if a plant is allowed to reach a later stage in its growth cycle before harvesting.
The advantage of using Gemmotherapy over other methods of drainage is that there are 50 remedies. Each one has a specific action and an affinity toward a specific organ. This allows you to target particular organs and problems. Gemmotherapy also supports digestive function by helping establish gut flora and stimulating digestive enzymes.
To give you an idea of the remedies here is a brief description of three commonly used ones.
Fagus sylvatica (Beech) stimulates the immune system and stimulates the liver. It is used for a weak immune system, compromising gut function, food intolerance, and recurrent viral infections.
Quercus robur (Oak) is used as a general tonic and adrenal tonic. It supports adrenal and reproductive hormone production. Oak can help support the body when overworked and fatigued. Oak is also used when there is fatigue due to low cortisol levels and issues of reproduction including low libido, low testosterone, sexual asthenia, and premature ejaculation.
Pinus sylvestris (Pine) clears out of the body through the lymph and liver. It drains joints and removes all heavy metals from the body. Pine works with structural aspects, helping people be more structurally sound on many levels, through regeneration of bone and cartilage, and the enhanced function of joints through drainage.
